HISTORY OF INOA

Greetings:

It is hard to believe another year has passed. Our 7th Annual Training Conference was our largest ever with 194 registered attendees. Thanks to each of you for your continued support of INOA.

Joining the INOA Board of Directors this year are Dan Stepleton, Iowa DNE as Region 3 Director and Brian Mathis, Des Moines PD as Region 5 Director. All other positions remain the same for 2011. Thank you to the Officers, Regional Directors and volunteers that give selflessly of their time to INOA.

As in the past, INOA awarded a $1000 scholarship to a male and a female high school student, payable to their respective college or university provided they remain enrolled and following the successful completion of their first semester. This year’s scholarship winners are Christine McGuinty of Tipton, Iowa and Brock Stoeffler of Mason City, Iowa. Unfortunately neither of our scholarship winners were able to join us for our Thursday evening dinner. Congratulations Christine and Brock and best wishes.

Planning for the 2012 Conference is underway. Be sure to check the website regularly for updates regarding the Conference as details become available.

On a more somber note, Sgt. Eric Stein of the Keokuk County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed in the line of duty on April 4, 2011. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. It is a stark reminder that we do not have routine days and we never know when we may find ourselves in a life or death struggle.

Stay safe and remain vigilant.,

Lori A. Lewis, President

Iowa Narcotics Officers Association
